Les Beatles ont eu le projet d'adapter le "Seigneur des Anneaux" au cinéma dans les années 1960.
Paul Mc Cartney devait incarner Frodon et John Lennon, Golum.
Le rôle du magicien Gandalf était destiné à George Harrison, tandis que Ringo Starr aurait dû jouer Sam le Hobbit.
Malheureusement pour le groupe, le projet s'est heurté au refus catégorique de J.R.R Tolkien.
Paul Mc Cartney a révélé l'info à Peter Jackson, réalisateur de la trilogie désormais culte, lors de la cérémonie des Oscars 2002.
